Brigham City Temple Groundbreaking

Today was a very special day for Brigham City and Brian and I didn't want to miss out. We headed to Brigham to listen and watch the groundbreaking ceremony for the Brigham City Temple. I am so excited for it to be going in and for us to have another temple that we can visit.
We woke up a little late and had to cruise down there to make it on time. But it turned out to be the perfect day for it. Nice and breezy with a little cloud coverage for the whole meeting almost. We sat on the corner lawn of the tabernacle. There were a lot of people there and we didn't want to stand for the whole thing so we picked a nice shady place. We got to watch the children as they played in the water that flows in front of the tabernacle. One of the kids even fell in.



It was a really spiritual meeting and we really enjoyed being apart of it and having another first together. (My first ground breaking!!) The best part was just being there together with all of our families and celebrating a new chapter for Brigham City.
After the meeting was done we headed back to my parent's house for a BBQ. My cousin was in town from Colorado so we got the family together to see them and their little boy. It was a lot of fun. Plus the food was really really good. After the BBQ Brian and I helped my mom finish Brian's afghan . It turned out exactly like he was hoping to have it look. So it was perfect.

Go Aggies and Andersons!!! It totally works as double meaning all in Brian's favorite colors.

The 24 of July

This year Brian and I actually did something to celebrate the 24th. We both can't remember what we did last year. So we began the morning by getting up and then going back to sleep. We love to sleep together and don't get very many mornings together between our two schedules. We then headed to Logan's parade since Brian's brother-in-law was in it and his nieces and nephews ended up in it too. (This was a little sad for us though since it meant we got no candy.) But we got to see them on the firetruck and help "fill the boot".



After the parade was done we headed to Willow Park to walk around some. They had a ton of free activities for the kids which was way nice of them. Brian and I then left to head down to Brigham to see his Grandpa Romer since it was his birthday. We had a great time visiting with him and being able to just catch up. We had to leave his house a little early since we had a BBQ down in Kaysville at my Grandparent's house. I have some relatives up from Arizona and we decided to get the family together for a quick get together. It was fun seeing everyone and hopefully we will be able to get together again soon in the near future. Brian and I then had to leave in a rush from there to get back to the fireworks in Logan. We had seats really close to where the fireworks were being shot off. It was a lot louder and brighter than any of the other fireworks we have seen this year. But we got to sit in our car for twenty minutes afterward waiting for the roads to clear out so we could get home. All in all we had an exhausting 24th of July but it turned out to be a great day seeing all of our families.

Bridals

My friend Oly is getting married in two weeks. I am really excited for her. We went out last Friday to take a few fun Bridals. Here are my top three pictures...

Summer Bucket List....one more down

Brian and I finally went mini golfing this year. I have been wanting to go for awhile but since I am no competition for Brian he doesn't like to go with just me. However, Spencer sure gave him a run for the win and he loved it. Now we just need to hike up to Naomi's Peak, go on a picnic, and maybe go up to the Wind Caves and Bear Lake again before the summer is over.

But first and foremost we need to hear back about the two jobs we just applied for. Hopefully we get an interview next week for the manager position.

Kindness of strangers

So on Friday Brian and I had two guests stay the night. They were friends of Scott's roommate and were up here checking out USU. We gave them a place to stay that night so they could get a feel for the life that USU could offer them. Brian and I had to leave early Saturday to go to Ogden for a sealing. When we got home we found these.

I guess we were able to make them feel comfortable and they really appreciated the place to stay for the night. Hopefully they had a good experience and we will maybe being seeing them around in the fall.

Arizona

My sister, brother-in-law, and niece started their move to Arizona yesterday. We are going to miss them but will be seeing them in November and next summer. We love you, Ward Family.

Jackson Hole and 7/11...1 Year down

This past weekend we headed up to Jackson Hole to visit my sister and to get away for our anniversary. Our trip ended up being a blast. (Disclaimer: LOTS of PICTURES are on this post. I took a ton of pictures!)

This is where my sister is working this summer. She is one of their cooks. We went to go see the place she works just after being in the middle of a down pour. It was really fun to see the place she lived in and the facilities she uses for preparing to head up to the mountain. It is a fun place with a lot of people there. I can see why she is having such a fun summer.


After touring Bar-T-Five we headed back to camp. My parents had already set up for us so we got to just start playing. Brian started a Frisbee game and then four square. Between the two of us we made sure there was never a dull moment.


The second day we went into Teton National Park and hiked up to Hidden Falls around Jenny Lake. It was such a pretty hike. Brian took this picture of me since he said it had "almost" sunflowers there and it was our anniversary weekend and sunflowers are my favorite flowers.

Jenny Lake is behind us with the Tetons. (Have you noticed the difference in who is on Brian's back? It's no longer a baby...I know the hike was forever long! JK we switched nieces.)


As we were getting ready to leave we decided to check out Teton Village and see what was there. We discovered nothing! But we got a cool picture by the sign to show we at least went there.


Want to have some of the best ice cream in the world? GO HERE!! No joke. We got a recommendation from a local to try it out and gave it a shot. It was amazing. All of the ice cream and sorbet is homemade. We decided to try the cherry vanilla since the owner came out and said it just got added out since he just finished making it. It was so good that we almost went back to get a second scoop.


The best time to go anywhere is when you know someone in the area. Jackson proved to be no different. Since my sister is working up there this summer she has gotten to know a lot of people. One of those people is the guy who runs the stage coach the carries people around on a tour of Jackson. We got to enjoy the ride for free (except what we tipped). This is a picture of the four of us that got to ride on the top of the stage coach.

We take a family picture in front of the antlers every time we come so why would this time be different. I don't have the whole big family picture but I got one of just Brian and I.


Another recommendation we got. We went here for our anniversary dinner before we left Jackson. We were a little worried that is would make it so we wouldn't get home until way late but that didn't happen. They do a fast service and the food is really good. If we weren't starving and in a hurry I would have taken a picture of the food.


7/11 this year was the day for the Weber fireworks and symphony. So we spent the night at Weber State with Brian's family waiting for the fireworks and the show to start.

All in all our big 1 year was a great celebration. We didn't get a slurpee like I had wanted to but we celebrated all weekend and had a fantastic time doing so. This last picture was right before we went to jump in bed we both had a tiny nibble of our wedding cake topper. It was pretty good for being frozen for a year but we weren't sure how much we trusted the cake as a whole.

Fireworks and more fireworks

Happy 4th of July!! Brian and I had such a great time this year celebrating the 4th of July all weekend long.
We began our long weekend on Friday. We got a call that my family needed some help hauling or "bucking" as Brian says 100 bales of hay. So we threw on the pants, got into my brother's car and headed to Huntsville to get the hay. It was quite the adventure. We had my sister who just had surgery on Tuesday to get her tonsils out driving, my brother with a brace from his surgery on his ACL throwing, Brian and my other brother throwing while I did my best to stack tightly the uneven bales. We made quite the team and finished actually really fast and headed back to Perry with the trailer and prayers that the hay would all stay in place. Surprisingly even though we had an instance where the whole trailer of hay swayed like crazy we made it without losing a single bale. We then got dinner and headed home to watch Logan's fireworks with Brian's sisters. We had saved spots on the hill outside the stadium early that morning.

Logan's fireworks





We began the actual celebrating of the 4th on July 3rd. We went to Plain City for their party in the park. We walked around the booths and played a few games while catching up with different people we ran into. After being there for about two hours we headed to Brigham City to Brian's grandpa's house for a BBQ. His grandpa made the request to get the whole family together for a BBQ and we were all ready to go and excited to get together with him and everyone else. It turned into a big party and was a ton of fun. There was karaoke, stilts, basketball, soccer, tree climbing, and so much more going on. But the best part was seeing how happy Grandpa Romer was to have the whole family together and enjoying everything.

After the BBQ in Brigham we went back to Plain City to hang out with the family again. Scott ended up coming and hanging out to. It was so funny to see how burned everyone got in the two hours we had been gone. We hung out with them the rest of the night and went to another firework show. I didn't take pictures of the fireworks this time but tried to see if I could get a picture of the whole gang.

Didn't quite work since we didn't squeeze in together enough. Oh well though it was still fun.
We took the above picture after having Brian and Jan entertain us with them showing off their cartwheels and handstands. Plus Kira and Jan pulled out some back handsprings for us. We also all tried to play Twister on the Twister blanket. We discovered it really isn't made for four people to play on. It is way too small.
Then on Sunday we stayed at home and relaxed the day away. Or most of it we did. We ended up going to first dam to feed the ducks and playing a little football with Jan and the guy she is kinda of dating. Then we ended up at our house watching a movie.
On Monday Brian and I had the whole day off and some celebrations in Brigham and Perry to go to. We ended up at my parents house for most of the day chilling with family and helping my dad get the suburban ready for our trip this weekend to Jackson Hole. We also got to see my aunt and cousins from Arizona who were up for the holiday. It was a really nice and relaxing day. We had plans to go to our third firework show but ended up at Brian's work trying to get everything prepped and ready for Tuesday since Dean was coming up to go golfing with Brian. So yesterday we all went out to lunch after Brian and Dean finished their game.
Overall we have had a weekend full of playing and it has been hard to get back into work knowing we are getting ready for another weekend of fun up in Jackson Hole and then celebrating our 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!! More pictures and posts to come on that, this time I will hopefully take more pictures of everything going on and not just a few of things like groups.
