So I decided to redo some of my settings and found that blogspot has added some new things or I found some new things. Be excited to see these new changes in some upcoming posts. YEA!!

P.S. Walking fifteen blocks trying to make it to work on time isn't the most pleasant thing to do but it is very do-able.

Catching up on the Summer (especially the past week)

I feel like it has been two weeks instead of one since I last posted. So much has changed but we also partied really hard. Let me explain since this is starting to sound really rambling like.
So last week on Monday Brian and I were waiting to hear back from the owner's of Continental on whether or not we got the manager position. We ended not getting it and have had problems with our apartment ever since making it so we have to deal with the new managers who aren't coming through like we hoped they would. (this will be explained later) After finding out we didn't get the job Brian increased his job hunting. We really wanted to have a new job found before school started since we wouldn't be able to see each other once school started if we didn't.
On our way out of town on Wednesday to grandpa day we stopped at the Best Western Motel on the south end of Logan for Brian to drop off his resume and fill out an application. He ended up getting an interview on the spot and called that night about getting trained on Thursday night. We were shocked at how fast this job came since he has been applying all summer to all different jobs only to have interviews and not get the jobs. So Brian told his boss this past Sunday that last week was his last week.
Thursday we cleaned up our apartment since we won't have time to do really anything this semester and Brian went into his job. He has loved it all so far. It is a graveyard shift job which means he is gone some nights but he will be home more and he will have time to do homework during his shift. We are excited for this since his last job had really similar hours but he couldn't do anything because of how much he had to get out. I actually went to babysit my nieces while Brian took his nap to prepare for work that night. My niece Abby was so cute. The other one was sleeping so I got to just hang out with smiling Abby. She was so much fun. I never realized how much she loves to play with her binky until then. She loves to get it stuck on her thumb and just chew on it.

Friday Brian and I hung out all day. It was a blast. We went and watched his niece Kaylee perform for the Mustangs dance team's mini camp. I love watching these. I should have videoed the cute little girl in the 3-4 year old group that seriously stole the show. She really just wanted to dance. We decided we wanted to see the big surprise dance that was going to be shown at the football game that night. So we went to see the Mustangs verse Highland. It was a good game for high school football but we all felt Highland just didn't show up.

Saturday was a busy fun filled day for us. Brian's new job requires him to dress up so we went shopping to get him some dress shirts and pants so he wasn't wearing a white shirt everyday. He sure looks handsome dressed up so professionally. I will have to get some pictures of him for the blog. Anyway after shopping for him we hurried home to go up to the Family Day party going on up at the school. I ended up getting a five dollar skirt from downeast and then just played with the niece and nephews. They sure had a lot of fun playing all the different activities that Macy's had set up. The only sad thing for me is it makes me wish I still was a kid and could play some of the games. My favorite moment was when Coler dunked one of the Aggiettes on the dunk machine. He was so proud of himself since he was the only one of the three of them to do it. We then went and watched the Aggies play each other and all I can say is bring on football season. I can't wait to see our team in action. Then Saturday night we had our friends over for dinner and then headed to the demo derby. We have been out of town for every one of these this summer. We were so happy to find out on Monday that there was one for August 21st. It was a really good one to, although the kids might have helped with that since the niece and nephews showed up with us once again. I think the fires were the best part of the whole night. We had multiples. The worst was Brian being tired.

Can you tell we had a blast? We really did even though Brian looked exhausted most of the night.
Then Sunday came and here is the day that just makes me wish I had gotten the manager job. We woke up and had no hot water. I discovered this after having gotten in the shower. So I took a lukewarm/semi-cold shower and wasn't very happy. So we called the managers right after church to let them know something was up with our water heater. They couldn't find anything wrong at first then they noticed the knob had been turned a little but we still didn't have hot water. So we spent all yesterday without hot water. Then today they were suppose to have the old managers and the owners help them get it fixed but Brian didn't hear from them all morning. He tried calling and couldn't get an answer. I got home at twelve and went to go find them in the parking lot just chatting it up without the owner or old manager's even knowing that we had a problem. It was pretty ridiculous. I was really upset about it especially since the owner came over ten minutes later to say it was fixed. It was that easy of a problem and we went two days without hot water!!! This also sucks because I had to go talk to them about the problem 3 times!! For a thing like hot water...really. Okay now I am done complaining about that. I just had to put it out there.
So that is how our lovely crazy week and weekend has been. It was crazy but probably a great way to tell the summer goodbye since this is our last week before school starts.

Rodeo and Demo Derby

I love the summers!! They just have so many events that you can go to that are just so much fun to watch. This past weekend we went to the Cache County Fair and Rodeo. I love walking around fairs but they didn't have my favorite things....donuts! I haven't been able to find them all summer but I have a few more places to look before I give up. This weekend on August 21st there is a demo derby here in Logan. I am so excited to go since we were gone every time there was another one here. Anyone want to join us?

Interviews

For the past couple weeks Brian has been having a lot of interviews for different jobs. We are trying to find anything that will work with his schedule and ours better and be less stressful for him. The latest interview we had was for the manager of Continental. We could sure use everyone's prayers on this job since it will be a huge help to both of us. We will find out sometime this weekend or Monday.

Weekend of four Saturdays

That is what Brian called it anyway and it is because it seriously felt that way. Can you tell we partied it up?
Anyway this past weekend was pretty insane. We began it on Thursday. Brian's nephew Dillan was playing soccer up at Park City. It was a huge tournament and since Brian and I had a wedding we were going to on Friday we just left early to catch his game on Thursday and to go shopping with his family. Dillan's team put up a really good fight all weekend but lost two games and tied one. He played a lot and had a lot of fun.



After his game on Thursday we hit the outlets for some shopping but Brian and I didn't find anything that we really thought was an amazing deal that day. So we didn't get anything. After shopping we headed to the Alpine Slide. The nieces and nephews had gone the day before but had an extra ticket so they decided to go again since it wasn't going to cost them that much to buy two more tickets. It was so much fun. The kids make it that much more exciting to go on it.

After the Alpine Slide it was time for dinner so we went to this place called Bandits. It had really good BBQ. The guys ate a ton of food since they could get an all you can eat for twenty dollars. They definitely got their money's worth and the waiter was the perfect guy to have with the three of them going to town.

The boys were stuffed after we had been there for several hours. But we were all happy and had a fun night together. After eating we headed for our different areas of lodging. Brian, me, Jan, and Spencer headed to a family cabin and the Poppleton's headed to their hotel room. The next morning Brian and I had my best friend Oly's wedding to go to. So we headed to the beautiful Oquirrh Mountain Temple.

After the temple and the luncheon Brian and I headed back to Park City again. This time Brian and I brought us each a pair of shoes. Then we just watched the nephews and niece again. We ended up staying the night in Park City again even though it was totally unplanned since we wanted to see Dillan play one more game. It was a lot of fun hanging out with the nephews and niece but we had plans to head to Bear Lake on Saturday so it made Saturday a little more rushed for us but it was still worth it.
When we got home from Dillan's game we hurried and repacked to head to Bear Lake. We ended up going boating right when we got there since it was the only time we would be able to that weekend. It was a lot of fun. The water was rough because the wind was blowing so after both of the boys tried to knee board and wake board we ended up tubing as couples. The waves were huge!! It was so much fun but way hard to hold on (which is what tubing is all about anyway right?) After our boat ride we went back to the cabin we were staying in and had some dinner. We then found out that because it was Raspberry days there were fireworks and a boat parade that night. So we ended up back in the boat to head over and watch the fireworks and boat parade from front row seats.

On Sunday Brian and I left Bear Lake with Jan and headed to Perry for my sister's birthday party. It was fun to see my cousins and grandparents. Everyone had a lot of fun and we got a lot accomplished. I was able to get some laundry done, take some pictures of Liz, and have her cut Brian's hair.

After the party we went home and all crashed ready for our early work schedules the next day. We all three headed to work nice and early and then got home around noon. After double checking our packing we headed up to Bear Lake once again for one more night. This time we played on a water tramp and went boating again. Brian and Jan were both able to get up on the wake board and we all really enjoyed some tubing on the molecule. It was fun to have such a crazy weekend but it was a nice break from working too.

"Kicked" out of the Temple???

SO has anyone else ever been to the temple and basically been told they don't need you??? Brian was on Saturday. It all began with us trying to go with my friend while she got her endownments out (we are like adopted sisters). We got there on time went to the correct waiting room and realized it was packed! There were almost one hundred people waiting to go to the session we were trying to go to (not counting those in the other chapel). The problem was that the room only held max 95 people. Problem, right? Anyway, Brian and I were a few of the last people trying to leave the room to go to the endownment room. We realized the three people behind us were my friend's uncle, grandpa, and cousin (her grandpa was in a wheel chair so they were all three together). So we graciously let them pass us and we got stopped by the temple workers asking if we could stay out and go to the next session. We agreed since we figured it was better for friends to sit out then for family. So we went to the chapel to wait for the six o'clock session to start. As it turns out the next session was running into the same issue with exactly one hundred people trying to get into the session for family and friend's endownments. The temple workers came into the chapel to see who had been skipped over for the FIVE O'CLOCK session. Can you believe that? Some people had been sitting there for an hour and a half trying to make it to a session. Anyway, we decided to try to go do some sealings or something else and try to meet up with my friend as she finished since it looked like we were going to be waiting in the chapel for another half an hour or more. Then we found out there were seven couples already doing sealings. So there wasn't room for us there. So we decided to try one more thing but Brian was actually turned away from the people there since it wouldn't allow the two of us to get done at the same time because they were already full. As we meet up just outside the dressings rooms to discuss what we found out we just looked at each other. We really didn't know what to say. So we both went and changed and came home after being at the temple for an hour. Let's just say that the first weekend of the temple reopening is not a good time to go to early evening sessions. There can be a lot of people trying to get everything together for their weddings that are coming up the next week. It was a crazy trip but at least we still enjoyed our time. We just decided to try to hit a session this week since we felt horrible about leaving that way but we had already turned everything back in. That is our crazy story of being "kicked" out of the temple. Really we just made a mess and weren't sure what else to do but it was a new situation for everyone, even the workers.
