Birthday Weekend

Since my birthday was filled we had to plan things for the weekend to make sure we had time to actually celebrated it. It began with my family all getting together to go to the Sky View football game. (High School football is really hard to watch after college football and not knowing anyone on the team.) My niece did the halftime show. It was fun to watch and support her. She had a ton of fun which is good since she was there all day. After the half time show Brian and I headed home.

The next morning I got up early and headed to campus. For my teaching degree I needed to take a test to get my math endorsement and then I need to take a test to get my level 2 license. I figured why not just get them both done and over with rather then take one, then the other another day. However, I only thought I would be up taking tests for 4 hours since each test was 2 hours long.....6 hours later I was walking out the door. I was pretty drained for the day if you can imagine.

Jan and Spencer texted Brian just before I called him and invited us out to lunch with them since they were on their way back from a quick drive to Bear Lake that hadn't turned out like they were hoping. We decided to join them and ended up at Maddox for a delicious lunch. (Thanks again for the invite!) Brian's work had given him two tickets for the U of U vs. BYU football game so we were headed to Provo for the football game right after we finished eating. We hit no traffic really which was good since I feel asleep for a quick nap on the way down.

The game was a lot of fun. I loved the people who we had sitting behind us, in front of us, and to the right of us...the left were weird people that were weird all night. But we had a lot of fun celebrating and cheering with the group of people we were by. The Utes won by a huge mark 54-10 which made it so that the stands were empty by the end of the fourth and I was tired. We hit little traffic on the way home since a lot of the BYU fans left before the fourth or during the beginning of the fourth.

The next day was Sunday. Brian and I slept in some, got our laundry done, went to church, visited Grandpa Romer (He talked about his favorite sports and why he liked them. I didn't know the guy loved archery and hunting so much. It was a great visit!!), then headed to Plain City for my birthday dinner with Brian's dad and mom. It was a great Sunday and they got me some of the cutest stuff. I will have to post pictures later since I still need to get the house cleaned and decorated before I take them.

Overall I had a great time celebrating my birthday and spending the time with family. We did end up missing a birthday party but we saw all the family later. Now on to having a good week. So far I have spent the whole time in the office at school doing assessments...but I have almost got them all done today!

Birthday

So on my birthday we spent the day down in Draper together with Brian's family. Aleshia and Tom went through the temple and they got sealed as a family. It was suck a special event and we had a great time supporting them. Since we both had the day off for the temple we spent the remainder of the day getting dinner and shopping. Overall it was a long day BUT Brian and I actually got to spend my birthday together. If we didn't have this we would have both spent the day working all day and not even getting to see each other. So it wall worked out for the best!!

The next day when I went to school again it was kind of an off day and just felt weird but I said Happy Birthday to the girl who has the birthday the same day as mine and went on with the day. At the end of the day when we went out to carpool she came and gave me some flowers for my birthday. I love them and really felt quite special that the family remembered and put forth an effort to show me. Now I just need to remember to write the thank you note to her tonight.

Peach Days

That's right we just had peach days this past weekend. It was so much fun. I love having events in your home town like this. I know it is a little overrated but Peach Days means family and delicious food for me plus my birthday is always just around the corner after it is over.
It began for us on Wednesday when we headed down to support our niece in the Junior Peach Queen Pageant. Not only was my niece in it but so was a student from my class which was fun to be able to see her and support her while supporting my niece.

She didn't win but she had quite the probability of winning anyway since their were 60 little girls and only 5 winners. So at least she had fun and got to enjoy the fun ride in the peach days parade. Friday we headed down to go to the kiddie parade and to get our scuba burgers and visit the booths. I thought about actually buying something but changed my mind and we left peach days with just food from the whole experience. We had fun at the free activities and having peach cobbler with Brian's family.

The next day we went to the second parade and got to visit with our friends and family. Once we finished with the parade we went to my parent's house to have a birthday party for my niece. Once again the camera never came out. But she had a lot of fun with her friends and just riding rides at peach days. All she wanted for her birthday was to ride a roller coaster so they gave her a carnival party with a pass to ride all the rides at peach days.
We left early and headed to Logan for the USU vs Weber game. Brian and I decided to ask his parents if they wanted to go to the game for their Christmas present. So we took them out to dinner and then to the game. Sara also came and we all had a ton of fun. The first part of the game we were worried that USU might not come through but then they pulled out a 54-17 win. It was a great night.

The last thing we did to round out the weekend was to have some family pictures for my family on Sunday. My mom hasn't had an updated nice family picture in years, so we surprised her with the whole thing this week for a Christmas gift. I will have to get copies of them to post here. Also on the topic of Christmas Brian and I also put together the idea for his mom to get a digitial camera for her birthday and Christmas from his whole family. We gave her the camera this weekend also since she is going on a cruise the end of this month and we wanted her to have time to learn how to use it before she goes on that.
Overall it was a great weekend and we got a ton of Christmas done. We had a lot of fun again with all of our families but were excited for people to leave and to be able to spend time together just the two of us.

Labor Day Weekend

Almost caught back up.
So a couple weekends ago Brian and I had a lot of fun by being able to relax with our friends and family. We began the holiday weekend by mini golfing and going out to dinner with our friends. The sad part is we were enjoying each other so much and talking each others ears off that I only took one picture.

Lucky Brian huh? Anyway the rest of our fun came on Monday with all of our families. We began it like we always do in Wellsville with the Poppletons. The firemen put on another great breakfast and this year we didn't have  ton of waiting time for the parade, we basically finished breakfast and sent the children to the house to get on the firetruck then sat in our spot for a little bit of time then the parade started.

Love hanging out in small towns with small parades. After we saw everyone we knew in the parade we headed toward Ogden for a picnic. We made a small detour to visit more family that was on the way down.

The picture sucks but we had a lot of fun riding some four wheelers. It is only my like third time being in charge of the actual machine. We almost got ourselves stuck on a hill too so it was pretty scary at one point but other than that it was a lot of fun.

We then headed the rest of the way down to Ogden and met up with the rest of the family. Due to my knee I was unable to play in the football and soccer games this year but everyone had a lot of fun playing all the different sports. I just relaxed and talked with everyone. After the dinner Brian, me, Jan and Spencer went to get Zeppe's. It is so good to have that Italian Ice Water with Custard. While we were there we ended up seeing someone get hit when someone didn't look their direction. It hit a little too close to home for me. I am just glad that the guy didn't get hurt and was fine. Spencer did a great job running over and helping out.
That was our holiday weekend. We had a ton of fun but I wasn't able to ever catch up on sleep like I was hoping to do. We also watched the first Aggie football game this weekend. They played Auburn and came so close!! It was a sad loss for us this year since we were winning until the last three minutes.

Grandpa Day

Brian's family has always done a grandpa day on Wednesdays. The year we got married and the summer after we were able to find a lot of time to go together to get in a visit with his grandpa. Now though it is getting a lot harder to find time until we realized that Sunday is a great day for us once we get out of church. So we have made it a goal to make sure we find time visit grandpa on Sunday. I can't believe how much we have learned about him and all the great things he has told us that has taught us.
But the most important thing I am excited that we were able to do was this

We have been wanting a picture of Brian and his grandpa together since graduation and we were finally able to do it. Brian's grandpa really helped him push toward getting a degree and encouraging him to learn anything he can. We were so excited to show him Brian's diploma and to present him with the white sash from USU. We sure do love this guy.

Internships

Brian and I both started our internships within a day of each other. My first meeting was on August 17th were I was able to meet all the teachers, aides, interns, and our new director/principal. This was my first introduction to my director

He dressed up as a chef to show us how all of the things we can offer together as a committed group could make a good combination. The brownies were delicious and I learned a lot from this guy in a matter of a couple hours. He still teaches and shows us how much he cares on a daily basis. I am learning a lot from my internship and am having a great time with all of my 44 children.
Brian began his Internship duties on August 18th. He got a schedule for the first game this day and they all gave them their schedules for office hours. After debating some time we got Brian to have his office hours on Thursday and Friday so he doesn't have to drive back and forth as much. (He has a room available to him in Salt Lake when it is needed.) He has loved learning all he has so far and can't wait to learn more. Now he can't stand looking and seeing what USU does though...so I hear about it every game since he gets to come with me due to a lovely thing called a spouse pass. The best thing we could purchase for Brian this semester.

Helping Out

My Family of course. They are the ones that we always seem to be getting calls from to help out when things need to get down. We love helping out too. This last time it was a call about cutting down trees. My dad and Grandpa were having a small problem in the hay field with it trying to grow in the shadow of lots of trees. So they asked their neighbors if they could possible cut down the trees and they were given permission.

The only problem we had was the chain saw decided it didn't want to work as hard as we wanted it to. The first time we did it we were able to drop six of the twenty trees. The second time we were able to get another four trees. So we got halfway but then we haven't had time to go try again since getting the chain saw looked at for a second time. Hopefully we ca finish it up here soon.

Last Week of Summer

So I know weeks ago was the last week of summer for Brian and I but I wanted to make sure I had a little record of it. This is the week that we decided to go to Seven Peaks for the last time since we had our Pass of Passes. We began the day bright and early and headed down. Originally, it was suppose to be us, Jan and Spencer, and the Poppletons. However, some meetings and things came up for the Poppletons so they weren't going to be able to make it. Brian and I didn't want their kids to miss out though so we offered to take them with us. So Kaylee and Cole joined us. We had so much fun. This time everything was open for us so we were able to do a lot more. Cole was still too small to do some of the water slides BUT he was able to jump off this jumping board rock thing though and he loved it. We were really glad that he found somethings that he could do. Plus he was able to climb his way across a pool on some ropes. Everyone was really shocked that he was able to do it too. But I kind of figured that he would be able to. Kaylee was pretty scared of a lot of the rides but we encouraged her to at least try them and she had a lot of fun. She loved the pink drop off sides and the green yellow sled slides but she wasn't sure she wanted to do it. After we finished swimming we headed to Olive Garden, we let the children choose the and that is the place they chose. We then headed to Dairy Queen and got some Blizzards. It was definitely a fun day for everyone and we were all exhausted. I of course left the camera in the car and was unable to get any pictures. But I was able to buy was 3 tubes for just $2 due to a mistake that a worker made there and me not noticing right away. Oh well!
Anyway, that was our last big hooray! I then started school the next day so I am glad I didn't get burned. It sure has been a crazy time for us since the first day I was needed at school though so I really need to catch up but it is late and I decided I had just a moment after finishing up a lesson plan. I will blog and post pictures tomorrow hopefully.
