Hawaii Day 1 Maui

We were exhausted for most of the trip since we wanted to do as much as we could in our short time here. Our week started with Jan and Spencer's scuba trip. We got up early and went to drop them off. Once we left them we went and got ourselves and Kaden ready. Then we headed out for the day to Lahaina. We were staying in Kihei so we drove to another town. Here we saw a giant Budda, a blow hole, beautiful canyon drive, and some gorgeous beaches. Sadly we weren't able to enjoy the drive back as much as we had originally planned since Jan and Spencer got done early and we had pretty bad service and couldn't get a hold of them the best. It was fine though since they found a great place for lunch and did some shopping at shops around their lunch place.

Went from tired and crying to happy and giggling

Happy to be out of the car and exploring with Uncle Brian

This car freaked me out. It has been here for awhile but when we first came upon it it didn't look that way.

While we were enjoying these sights it is fun to see what Jan and Spencer were seeing as a contrast:

Once we got back together Brian and I got food and enjoyed some shops. I found my first ornament at a street market here. I am excited to put it on our tree in exactly 6 months (can't believe Christmas is that close).
Brian's and my lunch with a bowl of fruit. This was so good. It was an interesting look and description but we loved it!!

Jan's food. She raved about it and sadly we never got a chance to try it for ourselves.

Fun sign at the shops
The second half of the day we headed to the Iao Valley Needle. It was such a pretty little park that had a needle. This was the sight of a fight. One of my favorite things of our whole trip was the history we learned through all of our activities and guides.

Description of battle fought here. This is where all the kings were brought to be buried too.

Hiking in. It was so green.

The needle
