Traveling, Pearl Harbor Boat tour, and Hotel-Day 5

Day 5 we had to repack and get to the airport to jump on a plane. We were heading back to Oahu for a couple nights before heading home. We didn't have anything planned for this day after we flew in besides Pearl Harbor boat tour. This was canceled on us on our original day. We then were going to try to check into the hotel and find something else to do that night once we got settled.
Boarding in Maui

After the flight, so happy to be holding on to one of his favorite "toys"
Back again....this time though we got to go out to the actual site.

This place has such a sacred feeling to it.

They had a little monument for where each ship was when it went down.

This talked about how some of the members of the crew that survived are actually buried here. They have asked to be return to the ship to lay with the other members who died that day.

The oil still leaks today and can be seen in the water.

The names of everyone who died that day.

These two trees are called the trees of life. They were specially designed for the monument.

So there is a legend that is going around about the oil leaking from the ship. They call it the black tears and they are the tears of the fallen soldiers. It turns out the boat leaks up to about 10 gallons a day and has since it sunk. So the legend started due to this not adding up. They day the oil is the black tears of the fallen soldiers and once all the crew has died that were on the Arizona the tears will no longer come up. Now there are still about 8 survivors alive today so they still have some time before we can find out if the legend becomes truth.

Our view from our hotel

It was crazy how congested certain areas of the beach were and the water with surfers

Before we were allowed in our hotel we had about an hour and a half to kill so we wondered the street and found some interesting shops. We then ate some lunch and checked in. We relaxed for about an hour and then got busy making some last minute plans for the day. We had hoped to do an activity together but due to our little one we weren't able to so we split up. Brian and I went parasailing, we had never been and figured Hawaii was probably one of the better places to do it. Jan and Spencer went to a Magic Show. They said it was the coolest one they have been to. The man did some amazing tricks.
On the boat and heading out. We chose to do 1200 feet. I was excited and nervous all at the same time.

Taking off
We had a fun group of people in our boat for the most part and we asked one to take some pictures. She did a pretty good job of showing us up in the air.

Toward the end of the ride they bring you back down and drop you in the ocean and then bring you back up.

In the water

Going back up

Coming in to land

Getting off the chute

Just finished. We had a blast!!!
After parasailing we got to watch the sunset at the beach right in front of the hotel and watch a little entertainment.

This was our cool tree across the street from our hotel.

After we watched the sun set and some of the fun little kid surfers (one was getting taught by his dad right in front of us and he was so good). We went looking for dinner. We found a street farmer's market and got some yummy fruit and a pineapple drink. It was so yummy and the perfect thing to add to our dinner. We loved ending the night this way and we were ready for a bright and early fun morning. Our last day in Hawaii.
