Food and Hike in Empire

After racing our frogs we decided it was the perfect time to explore Empire. There are several restaurants that we were excited to try. So we decided to do lunch at the ORIGINAL Hard Rock Cafe, we got a good burger to share.

The story of the name

After eating lunch we headed to the Empire Dairy King to get a shake to share. This is why we shared our burger. With some thoughtful thinking we decided to get a peanut butter M & Ms shake. It was good but they left all the M&Ms totally whole which made it a little difficult to eat.

This was after we ate quite a few bites.

We then went to see Brian's mine. It was my first time going up there. His mine is huge but I now know where he goes every day. Plus we decided to go on a hike that was up by his mine. We were super excited about going on this hike since it looked like a great trail as we started out.

Sending a text as we get started

Hiked right next to the creek and crossed it a couple times.

Scary small bridge to cross

This is when we realized our hike wasn't going to be so great any more. Our trail turned into the creek.

Trying to decide what to do.

We found even more snow too. Some people who were coming down actually took their skis and went skiing. They said they did three LONG runs and loved it.

The two hikes up here, we took the Butler Gulch Trail.

Overall not a bad day at all. We enjoyed the beauty of the hike and just being in nature. We were excited to come home and get out of our wet shoes and relax though. It had been an interesting day and I was trying to get over a cold that struck me out of no where. Luckily it only took a few days to kick it.
