Steamboat Springs

Brian and I knew that we would be out in Colorado for our 4 year anniversary. So after thinking about it we decided that it would be a good idea to go and check out another town that we had heard was a place to see. So once Brian got off work, we packed up the car and headed to Steamboat Springs. Once we got to Silverthorne we made sure to stop and get our slurpees. You can't celebrate a 7/11 anniversary without a free slurpee.

Then it was onward to Steamboat. We got to our hotel around 6:30 pm, checked in, and then headed to a place for dinner. We asked around and went to the Laundry. It was a new place in town and Brian and I decided to try the Chef's choice to get a taste of a little of everything. The meal had some high points and some low points but wasn't terrible. However we loved our Dairy Queen Blizzards afterward, it was a good way to end the night. We then went to our room, watched Jack Reacher, and then went to bed. Our night of blissful sleep ended with a loud siren and flashing light of the fire alarm. It was 1:30 am!! We got back in around 1:50 and the alarm was going off again at 2:20 am!! We were really unhappy by this point but luckily got let back in around 2:30 am. We were praying this was the end of the alarms but had it go off again for a quick moment around 3:30 am. Thankfully that was the last time it went off as the technician had finally been called to check things out (poor guy).
After sleeping in (of course with our crazy night), we got up the next morning and got ready, checked out, and found some yummy breakfast. Then it was off to explore the town. We found some fun shops and almost brought a few souvenirs for other people but walked away to think about it and forgot after our other adventures.
Funny little guys found while walking around
Once we finished walking around town it was off to the must see sight Fish Creek Falls. It is a 300 foot waterfall. They had several viewpoints you could walk to very quickly. We headed to the over look first.

After seeing the waterfall from above and high, we headed to the trail to take us to the foot of the falls. When we got there we saw a cute signage to follow for a cute proposal and the couple got there shortly after us. We had already left the trail and had started exploring the rocks and pools under the pool to get a closer view. It was simply magnificent.

The happy couple on the bridge celebrating with the guy's mom and everyone who is congratulating them.

We left the car on paved trails and didn't think we could do this, so yeah did it all in sandals.

After we had explored the waterfall area we decided to head up another trail and see where it lead for as long as we could. We were super tired and I was in sandals but it was worth checking out and the sore feet that I had at the end of the steep, rocky trail. (Going up was absolutely fine but going down was terrible and my feet were super sore from a five mile hike)

Originially we thought we were hiking up to a lake (5 miles one way) but about halfway there we found a gem and decided we were at a better place then a lake. We found a cool waterfall and pool area where people were swimming and enjoying the great breeze off the waterfall. If we had known about this beauty we would have hiked in our swimsuits and actually swam. But I enjoyed putting my feet in (although the water was super cold).

Telling Brian it is cold

Found a seat on a tree to rest the feet

we made it halfway to the lake but the waterfall was better for sure.

Overall the day was great. We were exhausted though and ready to go home, shower, and relax. Great way to celebrate our four year mark with a fun adventure. I definitely can't believe that it has been four amazing and great years already. I am excited for the adventures we have ahead this next year with Brian graduating and us finally moving past the college stage. I don't know where we will end up but it will be a fun to find out and decided together.
